Friends of Oklahoma Boys State,
The executive staff of Oklahoma American Legion Boys State has been closely monitoring the global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. We have been in communications with the leadership of the Department of Oklahoma American Legion and the staff of NEO A&M University and have come to a decision regarding the 2020 session. With great sadness, we must cancel this year’s Boys State session. This decision was not made lightly as it is only the second time in our 81-year history that we have had to cancel a session of the program. The last time was during WWII.
The health and safety of our delegates, their families, and our staff are of the utmost importance and we will not compromise that under any circumstances. This emergency situation has affected the lives of everyone in America and we are no different. It is concerning that the future of the pandemic and its spread are still unknown.
Our program will be notifying those who have already enrolled and refunding individuals and posts for any payments that have been made to the Department of Oklahoma directly or online on our website.
We will immediately begin planning for the 2021 session. Many questions remain and we will get details out as they become available. Please reserve any questions about that until a few months down the road. This will give us time to focus on the immediate issues at hand. We promise 2021 will be a session for the record books and we will be ready for another 80 years!
