Oklahoma Boys State Staff

The staff of Oklahoma Boys State come from all walks of life and all have volunteered a week of their vacation to help make this experience memorable. Some of the men are former delegates, others are dedicated Legionnaires, some are professional educators and some are college students; whatever their background they share a love of country and a commitment to the preservation of this Republic.

Matthew Fleharty

Chief of Staff
Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK
Career: Matthew Fleharty is a major in the U.S. Air Force with eleven years of leadership, contracting, and acquisition experience. As a mission-focused business leader, he expertly transforms taxpayers’ dollars into critical capabilities for national defense. Matthew is passionate about public service and developing future leaders. Off-duty, he serves as Chief of Staff for Oklahoma American Legion Boys State which educates and inspires hundreds of high school students each year about government, leadership, and citizenship. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, the Naval Postgraduate School, and is currently studying at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Jared Harrison

Chief Operating Officer
Hometown: Kingfisher, OK

Career: Jared is a practicing attorney in Kingfisher. His practice has varied since being admitted to the practice of law in 2007. He has extensive experience in real estate, oil and gas, estate planning, and other areas. His current practice focuses around business matters and municipal law, where he currently represents several municipalities in western Oklahoma. He is also currently the outside counsel for the American Legion, Department of Oklahoma. He has served as chairman of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Real Property Section, and stays regularly involved in many volunteer programs in addition to Boys State. In his spare time, Jared enjoys learning new technology, photography and videography, Oklahoma State athletics, and Thunder Basketball. He is a graduate of Kingfisher High School, Oklahoma State University, and the Oklahoma City University School of Law.

What Boys State Did For Me: Boys State helped provide a great foundation for my future as a leader and professional. Although I was the quiet one in the back of the room as a delegate, I still learned many different ways to work with others and how to approach difficult situations in life. Not only that, having Boys State on my resume helped propel me into many amazing opportunities, such as being selected as a White House Intern where I was serving on September 11, 2001, and it also provided me with lifelong friendships that I still cherish to this day.

Dr. Jack Test, MD

Chief Information Officer
Hometown: Guymon
Physician, Tulsa, OK

Dr. Test grew up in the Oklahoma Panhandle whre he also attended undergraduate school. After college he worked as a Business Analyst at an Oklahoma City insurance firm, then worked for the Oklahoma State Senate before starting medical school at the OU College of Medicine. He worked as a Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at OU Physicians in Tulsa. He married his dream girl, Juliann Strange, in 2016. They have two children, Trigg and Lauralee. One can find Jack and Juliann on a ski slope, at the lake, or in the stands of an OU Sooners Football game in their spare time. Growing up with a professional artist for a father, Jack also appreciates fine art along with wine and coffee, especially on a ski slope.
