The curriculum for the college credit includes completion of the entire week at Boys State, taking quizzes on each classroom session during the week of Boys State, the Boys State Final Examination, and writing a short essay about a selected topic that is given out upon arrival to Boys State.
- The fee for college credit is set by Rogers State University. As of last update, the fees are $97/credit hour. The course is three credit hours. To confirm that pricing, please check with RSU Admissions.
- It is important to note that all delegates complete all requirements of the college credit courses, with the only exception being the short essay, adding the college credit does not significantly increase the requirements of Boys State.

For example, those playing E-Sports will have an opportunity to be watched by a collegiate E-Sports coach that does have the ability to give scholarships to those that he feels are deserving. It is certainly not a guarantee that this will happen, but it is a possibility
- Before January 1, $285
- January through April 30, $299
- May 1 until session, $325
- Many American Legion Posts around the state are willing to sponsor those that wish to attend the program. However, each Post sets its criteria for selecting the delegates to sponsor. Other sponsorships may be available through other sources.
All registrations for Boys State are conducted through the Boys State website at okboysstate.com. If you are working with an American Legion Post, they may have provided you with a Code to use during checkout, which will adjust the amount you pay, potentially making the amount due $0.00. If you are not being sponsored by an American Legion Post or other sponsoring group registered with Boys State, you will be asked to pay the delegate fee by credit card.
Most American Legion Posts across the state are excited about the opportunity to pay your delegate fee! You should reach out to your local American Legion Post to determine the rules they use to determine how many individuals they will sponsor as each Post operates their process independently.
Although it is generally to your advantage to be sponsored by an American Legion Post to attend Boys State, as they will likely be willing to offset your delegate fee, there is no current requirement to register through an American Legion Post. If you don’t have contact with a Post, go to okboysstate.com to register today.
To register without a Post Sponsorship, go to okboysstate.com to register. You will be asked to pay the delegate fee at the end of the registration process in lieu of entering a Sponsorship Code.
- If you can afford to pay your registration fee yourself, proceed to okboysstate.com to register to be certain that your spot is reserved as space is limited. If you find a sponsor later, we will work with you to refund the delegate fee that you prepaid.
- If you need financial assistance to be able to attend, please call us at 405-578-4627. We will work with you to try to find an appropriate sponsor to help you be able to attend!

- Unfortunately, not all local American Legion Posts offer sponsorships for Oklahoma Boys State. Many delegates who live in communities without American Legion Posts and who need help covering the delegate fee have successfully raised funds from local sources.
- School districts occasionally pay the delegate fee, but most delegates in this situation raise funds independently from local businesses, online fundraising (GoFundMe), and other civic organizations such as the Kiwanis Club, Lions, or Elks Lodge.
If your post has agreed to pay the delegate fee for you to attend Oklahoma Boys State, they must supply you the Sponsorship Code. The Sponsorship Code is the only way to redeem a sponsorship from your local American Legion post. If the post does not have the code, contact us at (405) 578-4627 or use the contact form to send us a message.
Delegates have the option of purchasing extra t-shirts, shorts, patches, and other merchandise during the enrollment process. These items will be delivered to the delegate when he arrives at Boys State. Many of these items will also be available for purchase at Boys State.
- How much money a delegate brings is entirely up to him and his parent(s). Since we provide a city and state photo, t-shirts, all meals and housing, it is possible for a delegate to go the entire week and spend no money.
- Vending machines and the Boys State Store are available for snacks, as are coin operated laundry machines.
- The Boys State store has souvenir items as well as extra t- shirts.
- Deposits in the Boys State Store and Bank can be made online via the delegate’s account created during enrollment
- It is highly recommended that delegates deposit any extra cash in the bank for safekeeping. Although Boys State delegates are the finest young men in the state, prudence nevertheless dictates that one take care of his personal belongings and cash. Money may be withdrawn from the bank as needed.
- Delegates may drive themselves to Boys State. However, their vehicles are to remain parked in the designated parking area for the entire week of Boys State and they are not allowed to leave campus unless following the formal checkout procedures.
- Delegates may NOT visit their vehicles during the week without permission from Boys State Staff
The Samsung Scholarship must be filled out online prior to checking in at Boys State. When you arrive at Boys State, we ask that you provide your Senior Counselor with a printed copy of your application that they will then send to the appropriate staff member.
Delegates absolutely must bring bedding such as sheets and a blanket or a sleeping bag.
A full packing list is available at okboysstate.com/delegate-checklist
Yes, your son can bring snacks. However, there shouldn’t be a need to bring an excessive amount. Your son will have three full meals each day, vending machines are available on campus, and snacks available for purchase at the Boys State Store.
- You are allowed to visit, but all interaction with guests during the week must happen at Boys State Headquarters during recreation. While guests are allowed, we would remind you that Boys State is an opportunity for your son to interact with his peers in a unique environment that will allow him to grow as a person and a man. Keeping this interaction consistent for the week helps provide a positive experience for many delegates.
- You are ENCOURAGED to attend the Call to Action Assembly on Friday evening and the Graduation ceremony on Saturday morning. While we discourage interaction with your son at these events, they are a special time for you to see what he has experienced throughout the week.
- The Call to Action assembly on Friday night will be live streamed in a room separate from the delegates ON CAMPUS ONLY. Parents and families must be ON CAMPUS to see the Call to Action Assembly as it cannot be seen outside campus.
- Graduation is available via live stream both on and off campus
- The Delegate Medal Ceremony and Final Flag Change is only viewable in person as it occurs outside at RSU’s main flag plaza
- Discounts at local hotels are available. Please contact us for details.
The official calendar will be published in early may at okboysstate.com/schedule
Pick up time will be at approximately noon on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at their dorm on the campus of Rogers State University. However, Boys State strongly encourages families to spend the night in Claremore Friday evening to attend the Call to Action Assembly and come back again Saturday morning for the Graduation Ceremony.
Most rooms at Rogers State University have refrigerators, so most medications can be kept by your son during the week. If you feel it is better that your son’s medication not be kept in his room or his medication is a controlled substance, we have trained and licensed medical personnel on staff that will store the medication and provide him access to the medication at the appropriate times. It is important to note that while allowed under Oklahoma Law, Rogers State University accepts federal funding, so marijuana in any form is not allowed at Boys State.
At Boys State your son’s wellbeing is our top priority. All of our staff watches out for each delegate that is entrusted to us for the week. Since we are on a college campus, the Rogers State University Police Department provides security for our delegate and we have numerous staff members with law enforcement and first responder backgrounds that can also act in an emergency. We also have licensed physicians on staff to help with medical issues if and when they arise.
You will wear a Boys State t-shirt and jeans every day of the camp. Two t-shirts are included as part of your delegate fee and you may purchase more on site.
